The Robertson Clinical and Translational Cell Therapy Program has a rich tradition of translation cell therapy at Duke University. It was formally established in 2010 under the leadership of Dr. Joanne Kurtzberg and includes the Carolina Cord Blood Bank, a Quality Systems Unit, a Good Manufacturing Practice facility, a preclinical research lab, and the capacity to conduct multiple clinical trials. As scientific director of the research lab, I’m interested in investigating how cord blood, and cord-blood derived products, can be utilized as effective therapies for patients diagnosed with brain injuries, cerebral palsy, stroke, autism, and autoimmune disease.
